Hazardous Materials
Approximately 60% of homes in Australia contain asbestos or other hazardous materials. Safety issues can arise during maintenance, demolition, building works or day to day activities involved in living in a dwelling with asbestos.
According to SafeWork Australia, a hazardous material is defined as any substance or material that can pose a significant health and safety risk if they are not managed correctly.
We work with builders, demolition contractors and home-owners to make sure their workers, projects and workplaces are safe, by identifying the location, condition and controls required for each hazardous material.
As a Licensed Asbestos Assessor, much of our work is pre-demolition, and involves locating, assessing, documenting and monitoring asbestos on a site. We advise our clients on best practice removal and provide peace of mind that their site is hygienic through site inspections, air monitoring and proof of clearance.
Additionally, we develop Asbestos Management Plans and Asbestos Registers for commercial clients.
Lead is another hazardous material found in paint and settled dust, in soils in yards and garden beds, as well as in industrial areas.
Other hazardous materials include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) synthetic mineral fibres, and mercury.
